Captain Jimmy has been fishing the offshore waters of South Florida for nearly thirty years. At the age of six he landed his first sailfish (a sixty two pound fish after a two and a half hour battle on ten pound line) and boated his first blue marlin at the age of twelve. Both fish were landed while fishing with his father on their family boat.

Captain's Family and Crew

Family is very important to Jimmy nearly thirty years later and his wife Debbi, son James, and daughter Laurel are an essential part of the L&H operation. While growing up it was Jimmy's father and grandfather that taught him on the family boat Frick and Frack and for the next twenty years Jimmy, his brother Freddie, their father, and grandfather teamed up to achieve countless top three finishes and numerous First Place victories in South Florida fishing tournaments. During this time Jimmy fished for giant bluefin tuna in the northeast and landed over 100 giants between three hundred and nine hundred sixty pounds.

Immediately after marrying Debbi, Jimmy began to work full time for John L. Dudas and it was John who would teach Jimmy all about fishing on the L&H. The Dudas family was an inspiration and would always excel in charter and tournament fishing. The majority of the techniques used today on the L&H were pioneered by John B. Dudas and his two sons John Louie and Brett.

Captain Jimmy continues to fish hard every day and still enjoys tremendous success both in tournaments and on daily charters. In 2009 Jimmy teamed up with wife Debbi, friend Fenton Langston, and Captain Paul Ross and Ross's mate Jim Hendrix to win First Place in the Islamorada Sailfish Tournament, First Place in the Presidential Sailfish Tournament and First Place in the IFC one day Sailfish Tournament thus sweeping the prestigious Gold Cup. He then teamed up with Captain Ricky Lindner and owner Luis Isaias aboard the Jichi to win First Place in the Miami Billfish Tournament and also win the coveted South Florida Libertad Challenge. In the fall Captain Jimmy was again on the Jichi when the boat won the Islamarada Swordfish Tournament. It was an amazing run of First Place finishes, but the one Jimmy is most proud of was the First Place finish in the 2009 Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo on the family boat Frick and Frack while fishing with his family! A dominating victory after twenty years of trying.

No matter if you are a beginner or expert, young or old, a tournament series or half day charter, Captain Jimmy David will apply his knowledge, skill and effort to make sure your trip is a success.
